what a pain...

so, adam activated a line of service with cingular a few weeks ago. when he did that, we asked if it would be a pain to port in a number from t-mobile when his contract expired (so have a temp number assigned). they said that it was easy to do, and he should just activate the new line now instead of waiting the few weeks. well, we went into a cingular store (as instructed when we activated the new cingular line), and it was a major pain in the ass. it took 45 minutes for the guy to figure out who he needed to call and to get the port initiated. the good news is that it looks like it is at least half working (can call out but not in yet), and it shows as the new number when i log into the cingular account online. i guess we'll see in a few hours if it actually worked!

UPDATE: as of this afternoon, the phone is working! it can receive both inbound and outbound calls properly. YAY!
