we're baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

yesterday sucked. we lost power at 12:30am on thursday night/friday morning. power was restored at approximately 1:30am friday night/saturday morning. during the power outage, we lit candles. well, the candles wound up setting off the smoke detector because of they were lit for so long and because of the quantity. soooooooo, we had to crack the windows which made the apartment FREEZING cold. oh well. at least it eventually vented out and we could close the windows again. work was actually closed yesterday, so neither of us was able to go somewhere warmer with electricity. fred meyer and qfc were open with basically emergency lighting and cash registers up. they were nuts, but we were able to get some crackers and chili. THANK YOU TO MY PARENTS for buying us a gas grill with a side gas burner. we'd never used it, but it worked flawlessly for heating up the chili. other than that, we sat around and played games on my nintendo ds and listened an AM station on the radio to get power updates. i've also never been happier to have a smartphone since we were still receiving email. toward the end, we had to plug the phones into my laptop to get the phones recharged (thereby draining my laptop battery). since we didn't have wi-fi anyway, i figured the phones were more important than the laptop.

as for today... now that power has been restored, we were able to do a few errands including getting cat litter and new carriers (since we had a minor panic attack when we thought at first that the fire alarm was for a building evacuation not just us and we were frantically trying to put the cat carriers together). i've always liked the sherpa pet carriers but not their prices. oh well, they are nice carriers. power is back on at work as well, so i will work my shift as scheduled and attend the store meeting in the morning. my teeth are still really bothering me so i keep chowing down on the advil. i hope that wednesday comes quickly. we also went to mcdonalds this morning for lunch only to learn AFTER getting our food that they were out of fries and giving people hashbrowns instead. YUCK :( oh well, at least we complained that we were not told and we asked for a coupon for something free. we can go back sometime in the nearish future and get a free value meal. adam's thrilled that he can play his video games and do homework again.
