my trip to the jewelry store today

i went in to see about getting my solitaire resized. i have also had problems (AGAIN) with the prongs getting sharp. the guy that the store said that perhaps the problem is from the ring hitting on things. like maybe the platinum just started to get sharp. he also said that he hadn't seen a cathedral setting with the diamond sitting that high up. i looked at the collection of which my ring is a part, and they have redesigned it. they've lowered the setting and changed from 4 prong to 6 prong. the nice guy said that they are having an event on tuesday where a jeweler will be on-site with hundreds of settings. if i find one that day, it could even be set right then.

since i need to have this re-set if i want to wear it daily, i returned my new jeans that i hadn't worn. that made me very sad, but jodi had a good point. she basically said that the ring would last longer. i'll just buy another pair of the jeans later after i become independently wealthy. :) i'll report back on tuesday on this matter.

i forgot to mention this the other day

as you may or may not know, adam likes to create his own lyrics for well-known songs. here is the most recent addition to his collection. this should be sung to the tune of frere jacques (are you sleeping? is the english title). if you do not know this song, there is something wrong with you (or you did not grow up in the US or france). adam started singing this after stepping off of the bathroom scale.

scaley hates me
scaley hates me
yes he does
yes he does
calls me a big tubby
says he doesn't love me
he hates me
he hates me

as jodi would say...

... i am cranky.

i had a big migraine last night which my maxalt was ineffective against, so i had to take 2 midrin. the midrin, which has a sedative, helped it to go away and make it so that i could sleep which took about 30 minutes (fell asleep around 1:45). it didn't mean that i could sleep through the night. i only slept for an hour before walking up (got up at 2:45). i was up for 15 minutes, and i went back to sleep and re-awoke at 6:56. i was unable to go back to sleep, so i got up and paid some bills online and reviewed the bidding on the ebay auctions.

so, now it is 8:21 and i am still awake. i am going to take adam to work, and then i will putter over to the post office to mail out an ebay package and the maul (yes, i do know how to spell mall. maul is just a more accurate description) to have my ring resized and the burr on the prongs fixed. BLAH! i've never had a burr on a ring before. i wonder if it has to do with the platinum.... hmmmmmm. i believe a nap is in store for later today.

wedding bells and more ebay

jodi and richard are getting married! yes, that's right! YAY! i'm very happy for them. :)

well, i went through the closet and dug out the rest of the crap that i have in good condition (aka sellable on ebay). i pulled out the rest of it. i have a few things that need to be dry cleaned before listing them, but i have everything just about ready to go. the first of the clothing listings ends tomorrow night. i wish i had thought of this a long time ago. :D

tamara is going to be on this side of the sound on saturday. it works out well. adam and jay will be working on their cars, and tami and i will be out to lunch, shopping, and a movie! i haven't seen her since october 2004. it should be lots of fun.

March 29, 2005

a tale of two outfits (and maybe a few more)

first story... GO BUY MY STUFF THAT ADAM LISTED ON EBAY!!!

second story... i finally found a suitable strapless bra for my brother's wedding. i decided to try it on with the dress to make sure that it sat low enough in the back, and i couldn't get the dress zipped. i was sad. i thought it was catching on the tags again, so i cut the tags out. still no go. so, after i picked adam up from work, and we had dinner at subway, i asked him to try to zip it up for me. well, we got it zipped. i think i'm going to buy a body shaper to wear under it (i was planning on doing that anyway), and i have another month +1 day to hopefully drop a few more pounds. anyway, the top zips. THANK YOU JESUS!

body measurements almost 1 year later

i joined curves a few days before starting ww on 3/29/04. even though i stopped going to curves, i continued working out. i've been tracking my measurements and posting my progress on my website since the beginning. i decided to do my 1 year measurements today (2 days early). so, when looking at the bust, waist, abdomen, hips, thighs, and arms, i have lost 50.5 inches in the last year! looking at the inches that i have lost has been great, especially when i'm not seeing any progress on the scale. if you haven't done your measurements, you should. i recommend using http://www.mybodycomp.com. it is free. :)

March 26, 2005

adam's selling some of my crap on ebay

go buy it!

March 25, 2005

rude ass ebay users

adam posted an auction where the winning bidder failed to pay. he left negative feedback (as he said he would in his auction terms) for the bidder, and the winner left retaliatory negative feedback stating that he had not received an invoice and called adam an idiot. a few days later (and after adam had filed a non-paying bidder complaint), the dude sent us a payment via paypal. adam promptly rejected the payment. today, adam closed the complaint with ebay. tonight, the same guy sent us another payment. adam commented in the refund notice:

"Note to Buyer:
Refunding payment. Feedback has been left, and item sold to another party. Please do not send payment again."

a little while after that, i got this from the winner in an email:

"F**k you" (except without the little **)

that was it. i was just floored. adam is trying to figure out what to do with ebay due to this user's harassment.

go belgium!

belgium rules. here's why!

March 24, 2005

best movie ever!

omfg! saved! with mandy moore is like the best freakin movie ever. if you have not seen it. go rent/netflix/buy it.

YAY TIVO!!

the nice DHL guy just dropped our "new" tivo box. YAY! i thought it was going to be another 60GB model, but adam said that they didn't have any more 60s left so we would get an 80GB one. when i called tivo, the awesome rep said that we would be getting a 60GB one. well, when it arrived, its model number indicates that it is an 80GB one! YAY!!

the results from the visit to dr yen

6 more weeks :(

i went back to the doctor today to see how my foot was doing. i've been wearing a reinforced lace-up ankle brace since 2/16 and wearing a walking boot as needed (instead of the brace on some days) since 3/24. now, i'm wearing the brace and custom orthotics (or the boot as needed) until i go back to see the doctor on 5/3! so, 6 more weeks of no FIRM and no DDR. i am only clear to ride a stationary bike and swim. this does not look promising for me to do the danskin triathlon i registered for in august. :( i am so depressed.

March 23, 2005

why oh why!

why oh why do i love watching cheerleading and gymnastics on fox sports northwest? :) i don't have a tivo season pass for it, but whenever i see it on, i watch it. i am a dork.

more skurvy = happy leslie

so, my brother gave me an amazon gift certificate for christmas. i hadn't spent it all yet, so i finally did that today. here's what i got! YAY SKURVY! i hope they fit. i got a size 8 men's. i think that's about a 9.5-10 women's. :)

March 22, 2005

stupid billing errors and other assorted stuff

so, i paid our cingular bill last night. after i paid it, i realized that it was really high. i spent some time looking at it this morning and discovered that we had been charged a $36 fee for a phone number change (when adam ported in his number) that we should not have been charged per a cingular store. i sat on hold for what seemed like ages with a nice cingular rep. in the end, she credited off the charge and the taxes on it. sweet!

i called tivo to see when our replacement box will ship. per the usps website, it was delivered today. the tivo rep said it should ship out either today or tomorrow. he said that we should look for it by this weekend!!

i also bought a skurvy purse on ebay. it rules much.

March 20, 2005

video games, video games, and more video games

we went to the arcade today. i played DDR and ITG for 50 minutes. my ankle was a little sore, but it wasn't horrible. i think it might be improving somewhat! i go back to the doctor on thursday, so i guess we'll see what he says then.

after we got home, we moved to video game playing phase 2. we played 2, yes 2, games of rise of nations. the first game was several hours long! it is a very, very cool game. i can see why it has been so popular. i also like age of mythology a lot too.

oh yeah, i still have 7 points of my 35 weekly points allowance left. :)

March 19, 2005

games and ww

so, i'm not really into computer games, but we played a few games of age of mythology and rise of nations tonight. VERY cool. i wish i had a PC that i could play on because it is hard to see some of the things/text on the tv (i'm using the media center PC). oh well!

i weighed in today. not shockingly, i was up 4 lbs (part due to water retention and part due to just crappy eating habits). anyway, i've basically made it through the day with flex points/weekly points allowance points to spare. that is pretty good considering we had pizza for dinner. :) i'm joining a new yahoo group challenge that i hope will motivate me.

March 18, 2005

in need of motivation

ok, so i have some new motivators as of today.

1. jodi's wedding in december
2. fitting better into my xl paul frank shirts (which run SOOOO small)
3. being more comfortable in the dress for my brother's wedding
4. i'm joining the spring into fall challenge (runs 4/1 to 9/30) on the ww boards

i really need a good swift kick in the ass. here is my commitment as of tomorrow.

1. i will drink a minimum of 6 glasses of water per day
2. i will drink/eat 3 milk servings per day
3. i will focus on trying to eat at least 3 fruit/veggie servings with a goal of getting all 5 in
4. i will continue to exercise on a regular basis

i can do this. i've already lost 50#, so i know that it works. i just need to give in and do it and not in the half-ass way i have been doing it lately.

March 17, 2005

i have much love for paul frank

i love skurvy
i love the new eau de skurvy stuff (his potion bottles are so cute)
i love skurvette
i love aku (the alligator)
i love vic (the snail)
i love mika (the cat)
julius is also cool :D

paul frank has some really spiffy characters. there are also some nifty downloads (i downloaded an icon set and desktop background) on http://www.juliusandfriends.com

bad mental state today

i just feel horrible. i feel bloaty, fat, and hungry. i'm thinking it might be because i haven't had my depo shot yet (will have it on monday). i'm going to get my nails done in a little bit, so maybe that will make me feel a little bit better. the scale keeps going up, so i really hope it is just water retention. i've been bad, but i don't think that i've been THAT bad. so, i just feel fat and horrible. i really want to get clearance to start my firm videos again. :(

i really need to re-commit to ww. i just don't feel like i can do it, but i know i need to. i think i am going to start core again on saturday.

March 16, 2005

the weather is changing

it's been pretty nice here. today, it is getting dark. check out these pictures: sky color change and just a dark sky picture

missing keys and a dead tivo box

before we went to nyc, we decided not to bring my keys. when i needed them today, i could not find them. after both of us searching and ~3 hours, i found them. VERY VERY VERY stressful. :(

when we got home from nyc, we noticed that the living room tivo box was turned off. when we tried to turn it on, it would not even boot. adam did some searching on the tivo forums, and it turns out that the latest upgrade fried some of the tivo boxes identical to ours. i spent 30 minutes on the phone with a tivo rep this morning to get an exchange #. so, for $79 +tax, we will get a refurb tivo box, and our lifetime subscription will be transfered to the new box. sucks that we had to do this for something that they caused but at least we don't need to shell out the cash for a new tivo box and a new lifetime subscription.

March 14, 2005

an awesome dinner out

today i got a call from a friend that i haven't seen in a few years. she, her husband, and their child were in the area. so, we got to go out to dinner. it was great to see sara, andrew, and ruthie. it has been just too long. i hope we can keep in touch now. they only live 3 hours away from us. i missed hanging out with them. :)

what we did on our trip to nyc!

it was a really great trip. much walking occured over the course of the trip like to the tune of ~70 APs for the whole trip. i miss new york already, but we are both really glad to be home. i missed my babies like crazy, and i was happy to see that they only spewed 3 times!

if you click the link below, you can see all of what we did with some pictures (some pictures were taken with adam's phone so they are grainy) linked too.

wednesday:
*spent most of the day in transit (5 hour flight with a 3 hour time change on top of that)
*checked into our shoebox sized hotel room at the comfort inn at central park west (at least it was in a great location)
*ate at virgil's bbq in times square with jodi

thursday:
*hung out with jodi
*chelsea market to check it out and get a good bagel and cupcake
*paul frank store
*walked in and looked at the cupcake cafe and cream puffs at beard papa
*ate chinese mexican at fresco tortilla - it was good... really!
*visited my favorite building - the new york life building
*went to the gift shop at the museum of sex - didn't go in because of the freaking $15 admission fee!
*wandered around union square and saw an awesome movie (diary of a mad black woman) and took the worst smelling elevator ever back to the station after it
*ate some appetizers at the hard rock cafe (jodi and adam wanted their buffalo chicken tenders)
*tried jamaican bun and cheese (weird sounding and looking but tasty) from golden krust
*saw jodi's seemingly palacial hotel room at another manhattan comfort inn (times square)
*ate dinner at planet hollywood in times square

friday:
*hung out with jodi
*visited strawberry fields (memorial in central park for john lennon)
*saw them taking down the last of the few gates that were still standing as we walked through central park
*the met - the egypt wing ruled, the stinky potty room did not, the food was not $40 good but it wasn't bad, and adam got a neat picture from an atrium
*took the staten island ferry to see the statue of liberty where jodi was taunted by cookies that looked good but sucked
*saw the WTC memorial at battery park
*had a scary food experience at ranch1 (worst chicken strips ever)
*went to the famous katz's deli (ate potato pancakes)
*went to deb's (deborah is adam's cousin) and had dinner (japanese food!)

saturday:
*hung out with deb
*played DDR with some cool DDR addicts at the port authority arcade
*had dinner at deb's mom's house (VERY cool lady!) where we received many compliments for how good we look (after losing a ton of weight since we last saw her in 2002)

sunday:
*car picked us up to take us to the airport at 5am EST
*arrived home ~11am PST

March 8, 2005

almost time to go!

our flight is at 11:30 tomorrow morning. i can't believe it. we're 99.9% packed. i'm tired tired tired. i'm psyched about seeing jodi tomorrow. it will be super cool to see her, nyc, and her in nyc! i probably won't post anything until we return home, so i'm sure i'll have lots of stories to tell. have a great week!

SKURVY!

my skurvy sweatpants arrived from nordstrom.com today! they fit! they're a juniors xl (size 13). they are a little snug, but they are about the size of a misses 12! they are going to be super comfy on the plane. i am super excited.

March 7, 2005

miracles do happen after all

so, adam sold some crap on ebay that we've had sitting around for ages. he created the auction in such a way that the bidder has to have a paypal account to be able to bid on the item, and it said that he would only accept paypal. in the auction terms, there was some old stuff that said paypal or money order only. the winning bidder on one of the auctions said he was sending a money order despite the fact that multiple places in the auction said paypal only. sure, it was a little confusing, but i know that i would have emailed the seller for clarification before bidding. that really sucked, we wanted the money for the nyc trip. adam decided to just let the dude send us the money order, and we'll deal with it when we get back next week.

the miracle is that the IRS overpayment refund check arrived today. when i talked to them in the middle of last month, they said 4-6 weeks. wow! go IRS!!!

ugh, old pictures

i found some old pictures of me from before i started ww. they made me nearly cry. i'm so glad that ww is a program that works. the pictures are linked to my progress pictures page if you are so inclined to go look.

March 6, 2005

illusionz today

today we went to illusionz and i played ParaParaParadise for an hour. man, it is a good arm workout. i played on freestyle mode because i think that people look totally freaking stupid playing with the ParaPara steps. anyway, it was much better than no exercise at all. :D

March 5, 2005

cheesecake factory

god, why is it always so good? i love the bread. i love the stuffed chicken tortillas (leave off the tomatillo sauce and salsa, ignore the black beans). i love eating part of the adam's peanut butter cup fudge ripple cheesecake (i think that's what it's called). it is ALWAYS good. at least i can make 2 meals out of it!

WI, DDR, and suit shopping

ok, i was down .2 at my WI. not too bad.

ok, i played DDR on light for 40 minutes until my foot started hurting.

suits are realllllly expensive. adam had to get a new suit to wear to creighton's wedding. it is a nice suit but omg. it's not the suit that gets you, it is the shirt, tie, belt, socks, and shoes that get you.

March 4, 2005

WI tomorrow

well, another bad week for me. i'm gonna get up this week and go to my meeting. i hope to lose at least some of my 2# gain from last week. i did earn a few more APs than last week, and i think i ate less junk. i am thinking about doing core again once we get back from NYC. maybe i will do better with it. i feel like i am obsessing with food, so the ability to eat when you are hungry on core may alleviate some of the guilt that comes with obsessing.

i hope that i can also get enough exercise in while in NYC to make up for the food. i'll probably swim on monday and tuesday so i'll earn a few APs before the trip. maybe i'll play some DDR on light mode this weekend too. i dunno yet though.

March 3, 2005

report from doctor's visit

so, i went back to the foot/ankle specialist today. i told him i was going to NYC, and i would be walking a lot. he said that it might not be a bad idea to put me into a walking boot since the lacing, reinforced ankle brace isn't helping a lot. the walking boot isn't mandated at all times like the brace is, but he said it will totally stabilize the ankle and give me more endurance for walking. this thing is SO much lighter than the one i had 4 years ago. it's also all black (except for the white lining), so it won't show dirt as much as my old light gray/black one. i go back in 3 weeks to get my custom orthotics. maybe he'll have some good things to say about my ankle then. :)

March 2, 2005

nervous about dr visit

i have an appointment tomorrow morning with the foot/ankle specialist. i haven't seen him in 2 weeks at which time he told me to stay off of it and wear a lace-up brace. i've been doing that, so i hope he thinks that it is improving. i'm supposed to get fitted for custom orthotics tomorrow, so i hope that will maybe reduce how often i have to wear the brace. i'll update my blog when i get home from the appointment.

back in the pool

i went back to the pool again today. i swam laps for 22 minutes (.41 miles) on monday and 25 today (.47 miles). i'm sore from the other day still, but it was really great to get back into the water. i may or may not go back on friday (if not, it will be monday). i really need another swimsuit. i am hoping to go to a speedo store while in NYC!

March 1, 2005

much hatred for apple and palm

so, i decided that i wanted to sync my palm with my mac so that i could easily get the info onto my iPod and iCal. well, iSync is a piece of SHIT. it would create different calendars when something was entered onto my palm. it also took FOREVER to sync. it would constantly duplicate events, and it would not let me edit things in iCal. WTF?!? needless to say, i decided just to continue to sync my palm with outlook on my PC. considering i've been using computers for almost all of my life and palm PDAs since 1998, i can't imagine how angry i would be if i had this problem and didn't know what to do.

shop 'til you drop

yes, i went shopping this morning. i went to old navy where i picked up some camis for layering while in the cold weather (thanks jodi for the great idea), some flip flops to wear to the pool, and a funny t-shirt for adam that says new jersey: vacation state of the future. i think that's funny because of our trip and how nobody really seems to like NJ. after i left old navy, i picked up the new sims 2 university expansion pack for adam. he's had such a bad week that i hope this will make him feel a tiny bit better. on the way home from there, i stopped at the bon to pick up the little 3 pack of clinique face soaps for the trip to ny and both weddings. :) i'm happy to be back home. now i am washing adam's new shirt and my camis so that i can pack them!
