fedex did it again - YOU SUCK, FEDEX!

they did it again. yet again they did not make an attempt to deliver a package. they just took it right over to the office. adam and i were sitting in the living room and there was no knock on the door. i pulled up the tracking information, and i saw that it had been delivered. i opened up the door to make sure that they didn't just drop it off. of course there was nothing there. let's hope they don't do that again tomorrow when i'm expecting another fedex package.

survived the dentist

i went to the dentist today to get the trays made for my tooth whitening. they had to do the bottom one twice because part of it didn't come out right, but they only needed to do the top one once. i did much better with the bottom trays than i did with the top one. i started to gag big time with the one on the top.

i've got an appointment to go back next week to pick them up and the bleach kit. i hope that putting stuff in my mouth doesn't make me spew. i guess i'll find out soon enough.

blahtity blah blah

stopped at *store which will not be named* when i went to the maul today. talked to cathy (who i did the phone interview with). she said that she'd inquire what's going on with me when she met with the store manager this afternoon. cathy called me back and said that the manager thought that i was an excellent candidate and that she wanted to bring me in for an interview. the bad thing is that there are currently no open positions. she said that there were a lot of people that aren't even going to get any sort of callback, so i'm pleased with that. she said to keep calling and bugging them. :)

i don't think that i'm going to trade in my anniversary band toward a new ring. i'm feeling a lot of anxiety surrounding the possibility of trading in the ring. i think i'll wait until i find something that i really can't live without.

bleh

BLAH! the black jeans that i bought at LB last week had a couple of the black rhinestones fall off after i washed them according to the directions on the label. :( the girls at the store were great. i exchanged the jeans at RTC for a different style with no problems.

everybody's gone now

c+c called from a cab on their way back to their apartment. they talked to my parents who were in san antonio. everybody is home, and all is well. it was great having everybody here. it's so quiet here now.

we stopped at bellevue square on the way home to look at 3 stone anniversary rings because i've wanted one for several years now. i didn't find a specific one that i liked, but i did find a solitaire and 2 stone wrap that i liked. so, that is a possibility.

busy day

everybody got here this morning. we pretty much went straight to lunch at matt's. after that, we went to the flagship REI store. a few hours later, i bought a polar fleece hat (youth size sm/med) that will prevent shaddies from chewing on my hair at night and a pair of dansko shoes that were on clearance. on the way back from REI, we stopped at jodi's to pick up my birthday prezzie that finally arrived from canada. my god, there was a bunch of crap in there. from there, we came back here and hung out before we all went to dinner at claim jumper. mom and dad went back to their hotel, and the 4 of us came back here an hung out.

the big 3-1

yup, 31 years ago today i was born. wow. time does fly. i got e-cards from my grandparents, parents, creighton/casey, and jodi this morning. i also got calls from dad, creighton, mom, and grandma wishing me a happy birthday.

it was a good day. jodi and i spent the day out again today. we went back to bellevue square after having lunch (chinese) including nummy crab rangoon and dropping off some donation stuff at the bellevue goodwill. at bellevue square, we went to inspa to get manicures that we both REALLY needed. we met up with the boys after that for dinner.

it was a pretty good birthday. it wasn't terribly exciting, but it was fun. tomorrow begins with the arrival of family which should be fun since my family is insane. :)

November 21, 2005

busy day

after i took adam to work, jodi and i went up to the outlet mall to get ranch1. it was ok. it wasn't great. we did a bit of shopping there and got some stuff for jodi's b-day prezzie.

we left there and went down to bellevue square. i used the 1 real women dollars thing that i had to buy a pair of black jeans. after that, we did some misc shopping. i saw kristen (the girl that gave me the referral card), and i thanked her. i told her about the group interview, and she seemed excited for me. i hope that they do call me. i'd really love to work there.

hanging out with j+j

last night adam and i went to see harry potter and have dinner with jay and john. it was the 2nd time that i'd seen the movie since it opened. they hadn't been to canyons, so we went there. i liked the movie again this time. i think that i do like azkaban more, but it was well done. it was obvious that they would have to cut a big chunk of the book, but it was still disappointing. overall, it was a lot of fun.

November 19, 2005

picked up my glasses

i like 'em. they feel weird. their shape and weight are a ton different than my last pair. the prescription is also different, so they're giving me a little bit of a headache. i think that they'll be fine once i get used to them in a day or two. i've got that 30 day lenscrafters guarantee, so i've got some time to make a decision on whether or not i'll be able to get used to them or whatever.

buffy box set

i forgot to mention yesterday that my buffy chosen collection box set arrived yesterday. the box was ever-so-slightly smooshed; however, since it got it for $130 instead of $170, i'm not going to worry about dealing with amazon. after all, it's not like i'm going to ebay it or anything. it looks extra cool. the box itself rocks, and it's got some other great extras. it was cool because i got to delete the final episode of season 7 that i've been keeping on the tivo forEVER. :) i also got to delete my fav episode, hush.

booky's back!

i got a call from the apple store this morning saying that my booky was ready for pickup! i went to get him, and he's much better now. i did see that he now has a lone dead pixel instead of the 3 clusters that he had before. however, when i use my normal skurvy background, you can't see it at all. i'm so happy to have him back! YAY BOOKY!

i also dropped into the calendar store at the maul too. i got adam another new york calendar for 2006, and i picked up an ancient egypt one for me. the guy at the store asked me all kinds of questions about my booky and apple products. evidently his mom has an oooold imac and needs to upgrade. i told him about some of his options, and he was surprised at the choices and such. nice guy.

the interview

*store which will not be named* has a crazy interview process. it has 4 parts: 1) submitting the application/resume online, 2) phone interview, 3) group interview, and 4) one-on-one interview. i have now finished the first 3 steps. i should get a call within the next 10 days (hopefully) either to let me know that they aren't going to interview me or that they are going to set up a 1:1.

i think i did fine in the group interview. i would really love to work there. their philosophies and the way that they do business is in line with my views and experience. of the people in my group interview, i had the most experience with the store/company itself. one person had never been in to the store until today and two others had only been in once or twice since that store opened on oct 29. i hope that works in my favor.

*store which will not be named* isn't really like any retail store where i've worked or shopped. it has a strong corporate culture which fosters exceptional communication and teamwork. it's really about finding solutions not just selling stuff which i believe works in favor of customers and the company. i hope that i get an interview. :)

a crappy day

so, i got my powerbook back this morning. the turn around time was awesome, but i noticed that there was some screen damage when it came back to me. i took it in to the apple store and was helped by rob at the genius bar. rob had helped me back in september, and i knew that he'd do what he could to get it figured out as quickly as possible. i was absolutely not disappointed with what he had to say. i was thrilled to learn that the display repair could actually be done in-store. the bad part is that it takes 5-7 business days because they have to get the part in. that's ok. at least i know where it will be done, and that it doesn't have to go to the depot. YAY! hopefully i'll have him back before my birthday.

since it was a crappy day, i was going to walk over and get a cupcake. i decided to stop at friedlanders and look at the earrings. i found a $70 pair of earrings that i liked, so i got those instead of the cupcake. after all, the cupcake would lead to me needing to buy more clothes, so the earrings were a better deal. HAH!

November 13, 2005

liz and missy

jodi and i went to see liz phair with missy higgins opening last night at neumo's. it was an awesome show. i did learn that i don't like why can't i? when performed live with a backing band. it's great on the album and acoustic though. missy rocks. i would highly recommend her album, the sound of white, which can be found on the iTMS. i'm glad that it was a non-smoking show. alas, that didn't stop some people which sucked.

it was cool that jodi and i were able to leave the boys home again. we like it more because we don't have to listen to them bitch about it, and they like it more because they don't have to listen to it! so, i guess it all works out well. :)

we did learn a painful lesson. we are old. yes, yes we are. standing for 4 hours makes our old joints hurt. i felt a lot better when i woke up today, but my feet and back were hurting a lot last night. it was absolutely worth it though.

eye exam time

it has been a year since my last eye appointment, so adam and i went to see the doctor at the lenscrafters at RTC. one of my eyes has improved a little bit while the other has gotten a little worse.

i hadn't really planned on getting new frames because mine were still in excellent condition, but i fell in love with a pair. the guy that was helping adam pick out frames asked me what i thought of a certain pair. i told him that i loved them, but i didn't know if adam would (they were a unisex frame). adam put them on the table, and i picked them up and put them on. they felt great, and i loved the look. so, i wound up getting them.

i won't have them for a week or two because my lenses have to be made, but i got the lenses and frames for about $170 after insurance and aaa discount. i really can't complain about the price. adam's were about $160, so the cost of both complete pairs was less than one complete pair without a discount. mine would have been about $550 plus tax without the discounts. wow.

since my prescription isn't way off, i'm going to keep my glasses from last year as a backup. i am going to donate the pair before that and two older pairs to the gift of sight. they're all in really good condition (both frames and lenses). they would definately work for somebody. :D

one freaking hot laptop... literally

my powerbook has always run warm. when i took it in 2 months ago, one of the complaints was that it was running hotter than it should (as a genius bar guy confirmed). he also thought that the heat may have caused some of the glue on the display bezel to melt which caused the noise. it had been fine since it came back until yesterday. it felt really hot on the bottom. i put my hands on the bottom to feel across the whole unit. in doing that, i burned the palms of both of my hands. of course i called apple about it. they shipped out a box so that i can return the laptop for repair and an engineer will call me for the safety issues. at one point, it got to be 62c under the processor which is about 150f. HOT! it sucked. my hands still hurt. i'm glad that i was able to get ice on them shortly after the incident occured.

November 9, 2005

woo, got a call!

i very briefly talked to a nice gal at *store which will not be named* tonight. she called to try to schedule a time for us to talk next week. thursday's the day. HAH!

bones

i love bones. i hope it is picked up for another season. it's also really bad ass to see somebody on a regular series that i sat next to in spanish class in 9th grade. tj thyne rocks. he was always a nice guy. it was cool to see him in commercials or as an extra, but it's really awesome to see that he's credited as a series regular. go tj!

carpet cleaning today

yay! when we renewed the lease, we learned that we could get our carpets cleaned when we renew our lease annually. they're supposed to show up some time this afternoon to take care of it. i'm going to lock the cats in the bathroom for a few hours while they are cleaning and then to allow the carpet some time to dry. i figure that now is a good time to get this done with c+c coming out here for a few days in 2 weeks!!! 2 weeks from today!

dentist was fine

so, i need to be better about flossing. that's about it. pretty good otherwise. my filling still looks ok, but it was such a big crack that they might need to think about putting a crown on it maybe next year unless it starts bugging me. i took my cookie monster and my iPod. hah i'm a wuss.

anxiety

i have a dentist appointment in a little over 3 hours. this is causing much anxiety. i think i will have to take xanax. thankfully, my xanax prescription is so mild that it only takes the edge off (which is what it is really supposed to do). with it being that low, i can still function normally with a lower anxiety level. the dentist and his staff are really great, so at least i know it isn't a fear of them. :)

i found an awesome website, technocutie.com, on boing boing this morning. killer iPod cases.

November 5, 2005

COOKIE!!

adam and i went to the container store to get some shoe racks for one of my elfa units. i got a cookie monster from build a bear for my birthday from adam!!!!! YAY cookie! it was a good trip. i think that lincoln square will kick much ass when it's done. it was freaky walking on the skybridge between bellevue square and lincoln square because i remember how it was before it was built. it was just weird. :)

November 2, 2005

finally cleared to take the CAPM exam

geez, this process has taken forever. i paid my fee and submitted the initial forms on 9/15. i got the audit information and mailed it on 10/12. they got it on 10/17. i finally got the email today saying that i passed my audit and that i could schedule the exam. i had a choice of taking it tomorrow or next month. i'm scheduled to take it on 12/21. i guess i need to start reading the book now! HA!

halloween

we went over to beth's house in duvall and hung out with a bunch of people. the kids looked so cute in their costumes. beth and her husband have adopted his family's tradition of making home-made donuts on halloween. i'd never heard of that, but it was cool to hang out with everybody. i was told to mark that we were going to be there next halloween too. hah. they have such a great neighborhood.
