where has my mind gone?!?

today was pretty busy in the world of technology.

1. called apple's online store customer service to get an RMA for the speakers that i ordered and then found on amazon for cheaper. tomorrow when they arrive, i will ship them back out. my amazon ones should arrive on thursday.
2. called the bellevue square apple store to get a status on adam's laptop repair then went to pick it up
3. called comcast to ask about faster cable boxes then went to go swap out the old box for a newer model

now, that doesn't seem bad. however, there was much computer drama to be had over the weekend. we decided to move the media center into the bedroom. that's all well and good, but the shuttle case is so small that it has to run its fans at higher speeds and such to keep cool. the noise just doesn't make for a good sleeping environment, so a trip to computerstop solved that. we bought a new case, mobo, and processor for the "new" MCE box. i took the old shuttle case and gutted my emachine. i had hard drive problems which required several clean installs (at least several attempts). adam had big issues with the MCE box. some of the hardware swaps caused big issues with his desktop machine as well. in the end, after 8 hours of work, many system crashes, several clean installs, several hardware swaps, and some lost sanity later, it works. the best part is that it is really quiet.

i think the weirdest thing today was part of a conversation that i had with my dad. he was like uh, did you hear that dell bought alienware? i was like yeah. he said uh, i hope that they don't screw it up (dell messing up the good reputation, smart design, and general coolness of alienware that is). HAH!

today was pretty productive. we took a bunch of old computer crap to the computer recycling place, did some laundry, got adam's replacement watch strap, bought applecare for my new booky, picked up a new uglydoll for the collection, got the leaves out of my a/c filter, and had dinner. doing all of that made me tired, but i am feeling decent these days. i'm still not back to normal, but i am really a lot better than i have been in the last few weeks.

oh yeah! happy birthday, mom (not that you read this anyway)!

after nearly a month of waiting, i went to the apple store to pick up my replacement laptop. booky is certainly happy after his facelift! with the help of 3 great guys at the apple store, i was able to pick up a unit they had in stock rather than waiting until the one they ordered for me arrived (which was expected to arrive on march 30). i spent most of today doing a clean install on the old unit and then getting everything installed and configured on the new one. as expected, the mag safe connector is da bomb. the screen really is a little brighter. the backlit keys are nifty too. i certainly wouldn't want to go through all of the hassle and repairs that i had to go through for this to all work out how it did, but i did manage to get a really nice machine in the end.

oh yeah, i'm feeling better today. i'm still not back to normal yet (was i ever normal?), but i am improving!

i've been lusting after the msn direct SPOT watches since they were first introduced in 2004. i decided to look into them again, and i saw that the swatch paparazzi version of the watch was now on sale. it used to be $150, but it was marked down to $75 and includes a 1 year subscription plan ($39.95). so, i thought that it was finally a really good deal.

i received the watch today. it is huge, but it's kinda cool. i wish that there was one more notch on the band so that it would be tighter on my wrist, but it will be fun to play with. it was easy to set up and select the channels that i want. i really like that i can have fish swimming across the display. :)

i am still sick, but i am getting better. i feel very meh overall with a bad headache and an eh tummy. i've been able to take the antibiotics, but it may take 2 courses of them to clear up the sinus infection completely. :(

i still feel horrible. yesterday was a very bad day, but my tummy is feeling slightly better today. my sinuses are still bad though. i had to miss 2 doses of the antibiotics because of the sad tummy, but i did manage to get one in this evening. hopefully tomorrow will continue to be slightly better.

gee, it's no wonder i feel horrible. i have a sinus infection AND the flu. i'm supposed to take the biggest antibiotic pills that i have had to take and they need to be taken with food. after the spewage last night, i hope my stomach can handle it better than yesterday...
