the weekend...

saturday afternoon was nice. adam and i went to IKEA so he could see my ideas for a replacement bed. we found a mattress that we both liked (though it was different than the one i had liked on thursday), bought a duvet on clearance for $9.99, bought a quilt for inside the duvet, and a cute as hell cat bed for shadow.

i went to work on saturday night where we had a/c issues because of the main building's a/c issues and a major power outage that took out half of everything across the street. it was hot as hell in the store, but the awesome manager that night bought all of the crew coffee drinks. i was also boot-footed because my ankle was VERY angry on saturday for some reason. i had worn my small ankle brace on friday night, but it just wasn't working for me on saturday. :(

we didn't do a whole lot on sunday other than get the quilt and duvet washed so we could see the actual size on the current bed. after seeing that, we still think that the queen size bed will be totally doable. i'm totally happy that the weather is back to normal. that hot as hell stuff just sucked.

IKEA and pumpkin muffins

jodi and i went to IKEA yesterday. shockingly, jodi had never been to ANY IKEA EVER!. i had been drooling over some stuff since the new catalog arrived earlier in the week, and it was great timing. i had been pondering getting a smaller bed. i found a bed that i like pretty easily. the ones that i liked in the catalog were entirely too short. we also stopped at the IKEA restaurant where i have never been. it was good. the meatballs were much larger than i thought they would be; however, they were very good. i will need to remember that i need to order the smallest amount possible. :) IKEA also has some absolutely adorable bed linens. they are cheap enough that i wouldn't even hesitate to use a duvet and then swap it out with a different one after a few months. i got some ideas for new curtains for the office too.

i'm also happy because jodi made the pumpkin muffin recipe that i got from sunset magazine by way of angela a few years ago. they were goooood. they will not survive the rest of today!

THANKS JODI!!!!

i did it and other misc crap

i know that i've been AWOL lately, so here's a decent update.

i saw the ENT today. after the appointment, i came home and contacted the insurance company and scheduled surgery to remove my tonsils and adenoids on august 23. BLEH! the doc told me to take 2 weeks off of work, so i emailed my manager to get that on the books ASAP. the statistics look really good for people with great results after having the surgery, so i hope that i have the same experience. i am *SO* sick of being sick.

i also talked to my grandmother today. she had a CAT scan on her heart today in preparation for a heart catheterization procedure that will be done a week from wednesday. hopefully everything will go well with that. i was able to tell her that grandpa's watch is done so that made her happy.

i also decided to live on the edge and buy a desk over the weekend (which i've been talking about doing for the last year or so). i like the elfa desk that adam has and i had an elfa drawer unit that i wanted out of the closet, so i bought the legs and desk top. of course my old lamp wouldn't clip properly to the new desk, so we went over to staples so i could get a small desk lamp. it's nice having more space. it's a little sucky that it is gobbling up more space in the office, but i think it will be really great. i think adam is going to list my old anthro spacepal and printer cart furniture on expo.

in my ongoing battle with technology, i've come to the conclusion that my new booky is awesome. i bought a laptop sleeve for him online in a pretty peacock color from timbuk2. the old sleeve that i bought from the australian foof people is too small (the powerbook was 15" and the macbook pro is 15.4").

work is still great. i'm excited at the amount of ongoing training that occurs. i don't know if i've ever worked ANYWHERE that did this much training. i don't have any extra training this week, but i've got 6 hours over 2 days next week in addition to my normal shifts.

we also signed another 1 year lease over the weekend, so we'll be here through at least aug 31, 2007.
