time for some new bras

yup. time to shop for one of the worst things to shop for. after hearing great things about some of the bras (construction and size range) at nordstrom, i broke down and drove to bellevue square. i was helped by a wonderful girl there. the statistic that 8 out of 10 women wears the wrong size bra was kind of scary, so i was happy to learn that i am almost exactly what i thought i was (i was right about band size by off by 1 in the cup size). it was certainly worth the time to have the bra fitting done. it was nice to take some of the guesswork out of it. 3 out of the 5 i tried on were perfect. i bought 2 to start with. it really is amazing at the difference it makes. wow.

bleh

i have a headache. i have had a headache for several days. i have a slight fever which has also been around for several days. adam went to the doctor this morning with an upper respiratory infection. perhaps that is what i have as well, but it isn't as bad as it would have been with the 'ol tonsils and adenoids.

i played my slime heroes games from start to finish. it was one of the few games that i have ever liked and finished. it was really cute. now i begin the quest to find another game that i will like. i have one in the gamefly queue, so i hope that might be something good. i guess we'll see...

hah another weird/fun quiz...

You scored as Freddy Krueger. You are Freddy Krueger. You are evil, but enjoy having fun. Sure you made some bad choices in life, causing some parents to attack you, and burn you alive. But hey, you have even more fun now than you did then! You prefer waiting for your victims to fall asleep, so you can have fun with them in your world. But if they pull you out, you dont let that stop your fun!

another week gone

well, another week has come and gone. i made it through work with no problems. i have noticed that i get tired more easily than i did before the surgery. i guess that shows that my body is still trying to recover. my throat has been hurting less for the last 2 days, so that is a nice change. some things still taste strange, but i think that it has been improving overall. i might try sleeping with 2 pillows instead of 3 tonight.

the big news for today is that i got my hair cut. jaime who normally cuts my hair wasn't available until next week, so nancy (the girl that cuts jaime's hair) took care of it. it's nice to have a good backup person for hair. i also saw kelly to get my eyebrows redone which kept me out of the house for a few hours. i know that isn't real thrilling, but that's about it! we may have a buyer for the oreck vacuum, so that would be great to get it out of the house so the dyson can go in the closet instead of sitting in the living room.

adam's busy with work and school as usual. this new class is really bad, and he hates it. on top of a large workload, the teacher is strict about some pretty lame ass stuff and the class has 4 people which makes meeting the participation requirement difficult.

the babies go in for their annual exam on saturday. other than work, that's pretty much all that is in the works.

results of the post-op doctor visit

so, the doc was happy with how i am doing. he was really happy that i haven't had any bleeding. i asked about several issues i had been experiencing (bad acid reflux, lots of hiccups, things tasting strange, yawning hurting), and they are all normal.

the acid reflux and hiccups are linked together. they are most likely from the meds on little to no food.

things tasting strange is because of some edema at the surgical site putting pressure on the nerve behind the tonsils. that nerve is associated with taste, so pressure would not allow it to always transmit properly. that should improve as the swelling subsides.

pain when yawning is linked to my ear pain since it all has to do with muscle soreness.

it all makes sense now!

YAY!

on the mend and trying to resume normal life

so, i'm doing a lot better over the last few days. i still don't feel great, but i feel a lot better emotionally. i actually see an end to all of this soon. hopefully my doctor will confirm my feelings when i see him on tuesday for a post-op visit. today i'm gonna try taking only 1 vicodin at a time instead of 2, so we'll see how that goes for me. also, i've noticed that some things taste like absolute crap while other things taste normal. apparently that is a very normal occurance post-op. the general consensus seems to be that you fully regain your normal ability to taste after about a month, so every "new" food experience is an experiment as to how it will taste. finally, i am sick sick sick to death of my ears hurting.

andrew was in town for work on friday, so we got to hang out with him for 2 days. it was really cool to see him. the last time we saw him was earlier this year before shadow was sick, so it was cool to catch up.

today we're going to jay and karsan's house for a BBQ. it will suck because i will not be able to eat everything that everybody else will be eating, but it will be cool to see everybody.

in other news, i wish it would be less hot. i hate hot. hot sucks. bring on the fall/winter! i wish to wear a scarfy soon...

back to ww

i read about a great deal that ww is now running. if you pay $39.95/mo, you get unlimited meetings and a subscription to etools. man, i was paying $12/week plus another like $12/mo for etools. i hope to keep the loss from the surgery.
