so, i interviewed for a promotion at work about a week and a half ago now. i found out on friday that i got it, and it was formally announced this weekend. i also received my harry potter book which i finished today, AND i found my very first swatch on ebay (well not mine exactly, but it is the correct model). i've still got another day off before i go back to work, so i'm going to try to get some stuff done around the house. heh we'll see if i actually do that...

$432

$432 to fix my poor sporky (we hope). he had a leaking oil pan gasket. we're gonna re-check it in about a month to make sure that the rear main seal isn't leaking too. so, cross your fingers that this will work. if this doesn't, we're looking at about $700 for the rear main seal. wow. thankfully the dealership believes there is about an 80-90% chance this will fix the problem and that this was the less expensive of the 2 possibilities.

back to normal

so, the parents left on friday morning at the crack of dawn. friday afternoon i went back to work where i unfortunately left after less than 2 hours of being there because i felt really icky. we watched some of the stuff that we had netflixed while i whined about how crappy i felt. saturday brought a meeting and a regular shift. i felt better but still not great. today was another boring day. sadly the highlight of the day was probably watching the my super sweet sixteen bling countdown. ha. yes, i know that it is sad. now i'm watching adam play a video game (the darkness if you are curious) that he just rented from hollywood video.

other than that, we had opened a ticket with xbox support about 2 weeks ago regarding our 3 sector red ring of doom. i didn't shell out the cash for the repair, and i'm so glad that i waited. with the certain type of failure we were experiencing, we were able to qualify for the extended repair that microsoft started offering late last week. YAY! no $140 to get the damn thing fixed. we're waiting on the empty box from them to arrive so we can get it sent back to them and get it repaired.

i'm having my hair cut tomorrow. wednesday is going to be VERY long. meeting at 7 am, meeting at noon, work at 1:30. ugh. hopefully it will be fruitful. i'll try to report back in if anything comes of it. :)

recap on several of the trips

so, it's been a crazy whirlwind of stuff since my parents arrived (as you can tell from my previous blog post).

spirit of washington dinner train
we went for brunch on the dinner train last sunday. it was VERY bumpy since most of the route uses freight tracks. the food was eh, but it was one of those things that is kinda cool to say that you did. if you're thinking about it, do the dome car without a doubt. it was worth the money. i don't know if the whole thing was really worth the money, and i'm not sure if i'd really recommend it, but it was kinda neat (especially since i didn't pay for it!) .

leavenworth
i enjoyed leavenworth when we were there on monday. it was like a wussed-out version of fredericksburg. it needs some work before it gets there, but it was cute (and HOT). the drive out was also beautiful. again, it's one of those it's nice to do once but i wouldn't make a habit of it. we went to muenchen house for lunch where i had a pretty good beer brat. the drive out wasn't bad at all, but i would imagine that it would suck in most anything other than the nearly perfect weather we had that day.

san juan islands
today we took the victoria clipper iii to the san juan islands for whale and sealife searching. it was a beautiful cruise out there. we saw LOTS of animals and birds including one of the resident orca pods which was totally amazing. after the whale watching, we went back to friday harbor for 2 hours which was a total mess due to lack of map reading (not my fault) and the inability of other passengers to follow crew instructions for re-boarding the ship. i thought that i was going to go nuts on the way back (3 hours back from friday harbor to seattle) because it was already 4:30 pm and we'd been on the boat since 6:45 am. we got back to seattle around 7:30 pm. it was about 3.5 hours out to friday harbor to drop people off, about 2 or so hours of whale watching, about 2 hours back in friday harbor (where we had a crappy lunch), and then 3 hours back to seattle. it was a looooong day. i would recommend it though. it was really beautiful. i also greatly enjoyed being able to see the big bridge at deception pass.

that is all for now. i've been up since 5:30 am (it's 10:15 pm now), so i'm going to BED. GOODNIGHT!

more work drama and severe frustration

wow. it's been months since the managerial drama in february. well, it's back again. of the 3 managerial slots, only 1 has been filled. yes, that means that somebody else quit. it's no wonder that so many people are frustrated and exhausted. i am still trying to comprehend why it takes so long to backfill positions. it's been over 3 months. yes, i understand that we want to get the right person for the job; however, the delay in making a move is hurting the staff as well. i suppose this is especially true this time of year when you have lots of people wanting to take time off, but the lack of staff isn't stopping anybody from taking that time off. there are even people who haven't gotten through their initial training that are already requesting time off. it's a little disturbing when you see a shift coverage request and you have NO idea whatsoever who that person is! the whole thing is very frustrating.

in an unrelated note, i think our xbox 360 is dying.

goddess of allergy meds

yes, i am going to call myself the goddess of allergy meds now. i've been on singular (for allergies and asthma) for several years. i was also on zyrtec, but one of my docs recommended taking it only as needed. after feeling terrible, having OTC stuff not working very well, and seeing 2 DIFFERENT doctors, i'm on singular, zyrtec, and flonase daily. well, i do feel a lot better. allergies suck, but yay for allergy meds. bleh. that is all.

UPDATED: addiction.

for some people it's drugs, alcohol, or shoes. not me. i'm all about the purses. adam is most pleased that i've found a less expensive brand to fixate on, but the volume of my recent acquisitions is a little scary. i've been going up to the lesportsac outlet where i can get a purse of a reasonable size for as little as $20. the most expensive thing that i have bought there was $97.50. that's a far cry from a MINIMUM of $595 for a vuitton bag.

my obsession is with the tokidoki for lesportsac bags especially. a new print is coming out soon, so i must get one of those. i have a bag from each season now. here's the inventory of tokidoki...

1st (spring 2006) - bella bella in the original print and bella in tokidoki black (with the original print interior)
2nd - (summer 2006) - caramella pouch in the camo playground olive print (an outlet find)
3rd - (fall 2006) - buon viaggio in the foresta print and stellina in the citta rosa print (an ebay find)
4th - (winter 2006) - mamma mia in the inferno print (my first that adam bought me for christmas) and stellina in the paradiso print (an outlet find)
5th - (spring 2007) - mamma mia in the adios star print and stellina in the pirata print

i don't think that i'll pick up the missing ones from the previous seasons. geez. i think that i will pick up a ciao ciao in the amore print when it comes out. i don't see anything else on the horizon that is calling to me since the japanese lesportsac site has tiny preview pics. oh and yes, i do use them all.

if you think i'm nuts about tokidoki, go to the tokidoki blog . that site rocks.

here's the update...

i found an amore bag at macys on april 1. they had just received them over the weekend. so, now i am a proud owner of a buon viaggio bag. :D :D :D
